Mitchell Award Nomination

Nomination for John Mitchell Award, Wittenberg University

To me, Marc Polster, perfectly exemplifies the five points which are described to be attributed to a candidate for this award.

His double major of physics and music and his outstanding success at both of these areas demonstrates his personal discipline, a discipline far more mature than the other students.  His tutoring in these areas display his desire to help others.  His leadership in establishing Witt Sound Labs, his involvement in the Pre-Law Association, his aid in various musical show performances at Witt and the dance concert display his willingness to use his gifts in voluntary service to projects and programs.  His constant dedication to learning and to improving himself in his skills and his using of these skills in a practical manner display to me an awareness of a role in society which I have rarely seen in someone his age.

On a personal note, Marc Polster has been a class student of mine, plus a percussionist and librarian of the Springfield Symphony.  As a student, he set the standard for his colleagues to meet, yet they all hold him in the highest regard.  His work in the Symphony has been most professional and I have observed this constant growth in his skills. He is, in general, a perfectionist within himself, yet carries a great regard and respect for both his colleagues and his professional employers.

In my eleven years on the Wittenberg Faculty, he is, by far, the one student, whom in my opinion, I can wholeheartedly nominate and support for this award.

Signed,
