Trained from early childhood by my father, Ian Polster, and others, I am equally adept at jazz and rock drumming.

For pit orchestra gigs, I’d routinely cover all drum and percussion parts (or “books”) that, otherwise, called for two to four players. I routinely played timpani, xylophone, or trap percussion parts with my hands while keeping a beat going with my feet. I didn’t know it at the time that this was a very unusual way of covering drums/percussion parts.
